Private managed-care and insurance companies have little if any motivation to provide the best care at an affordable price.  The government, however, like nonprofit companies, has every incentive to save money and its main “owner” is the public who use its services—an incentive for quality.
Please, keep government programs out of the hands of for-profit companies who would have every incentive to pillage them and walk away in case of any trouble —keep those services and facilities accountable only to the taxpayers who fund them.
